Job Description:
The Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Social Workis seeking a faculty member who will bring their expertise inadvanced generalist social work practice, program administrationand planning, and anti-oppressive/diversity-affirming social workeducation to our MSW Program. It is anticipated that this personwill eventually step into the role of MSW Program Director and leadthe program through reaffirmation and expansion. The position isprincipally assigned to the MSW program. Our Advanced GeneralistMSW Program is year-round, Friday/Saturday, with courses offeredthrough blended delivery; 60 percent on campus and 40 percenton-line.

  • A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up totwenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.

  • The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas asassigned and qualified.

  • May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid,and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or atthe university's additional locations, as assigned.

  • The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues incurriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct researchproductively and mentor students in research, help createinnovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, andcompletion, and may be expected to develop external grant fundingopportunities.

  • All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly orcreative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study,in contributing to student growth and development, and in providingservice to the university and community (See Article 22 andAppendix G of the IFO Master Agreement).

  • This position will supervise/advise graduate students.

  • he successful candidate will be responsible for teachinggraduate courses in generalist and advanced generalist social workpractice commensurate with their areas of expertise.

  • The successful applicant will collaborate with colleagues inCSWE reaffirmation, curriculum design, instruction, and evaluation;mentor students in research, academic, and professionaldevelopment; and support student recruitment, retention, and degreecompletion.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work required (Conferred on an officialtranscript at the time of application.). The successful applicantwill be required to earn a doctorate in social work or relatedfield (within 5-years of appointment) to be considered for tenureand/or promotion.

  • Minimum of two (2) years post-MSW social work experience, withdocumented macro practice experience in administration, programmanagement, program planning, and/or program evaluation.

  • Licensed or eligible for social work licensure inMinnesota.

  • Demonstrated post-secondary education teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply anequity lens to this position including social justice and/oranti-racism.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in social work or related field. (Conferred on anofficial transcript at the time of application.)

  • Demonstrated experience as a BSW or MSW programdirector/coordinator or BSW or MSW field educationdirector/coordinator.

  • Demonstrated experience with CSWEaccreditation/reaffirmation.

  • Demonstrated experience teaching social work at the graduatelevel.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach using technology in the classroomand/or online course delivery.

  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain a scholarshipagenda.

  • Experience in or knowledge of rural and small community socialwork practice.

Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to,participating and completing all required safety trainings, as wellas performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota StateUniversity, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriatetools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

TheBSSW Program has been accredited since 1974. Each year, the MSWProgram Graduates 24 to 34 students and the BSSW Program graduated65 to 70 majors. The Department of Social Work consists of 14full-time faculty and staff, supported by an administrativeassistant and 7 to 8 graduate assistants. The MSW Program has anadvanced generalist specialization, with an emphasis on rural andsmall community practice.
